Billy Jiang, PhD Candidate

I completed the combined degree of Bachelor of Advanced Computing and Bachelor of Science (Medical Science) at the University of Sydney in 2023. During the journey, I completed my Honours study with a First Class Honours in Information Systems at the Faculty of Engineering. Having pursued degrees in diverse fields, I’m passionate about acquiring knowledge that can help seamlessly blend technology and healthcare to create meaningful contributions to people’s lives.

In late 2023, I joined the James lab as a Dalyell Scholar and a CPC Summer Research Scholar, where I fell in love with biological research in metabolic health, and so recently, I decided to pursue a PhD here. I’m interested in understanding the underlying mechanism of metabolically healthy obesity. In particular, I wish to learn and apply Systems Biology approaches to identify key and novel regulators of adipose tissue glucose metabolism.
