Kristen Cooke (Thomas), Team Leader of General Research Activities
I completed a Bachelors of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience with first class honours at the University of Sydney in 2011, focusing on equine genetics. I moved into medical research in 2012, primarily working on skeletal muscle performance and muscular dystrophy with Prof. Kathryn North at the Institute for Neuroscience and Muscle Research at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. I joined the David James Lab in 2014, located at the Charles Perkins Centre at the University of Sydney. Here, I have assisted on many projects spanning across our interdisciplinary team. My research utilises cellular and animal models to elucidate the insulin signalling pathway.
